TurkeyTail Farm CSA

TurkeyTail Farm is offering Fall and Winter Farm Shares, also known as a CSA or Community Supported Agriculture. The TurkeyTail’s CSA offers weekly boxes containing our superior quality pork, lamb and goat, duck, chicken, mushrooms, leafy greens and cut flowers (as well as other goodies from the farm).

What is a CSA?
CSA Stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a way for the food-buying public to enter into a relationship with a farm and to receive a share of the harvest. By making a financial commitment to a farm (usually the whole season, but in this case on a three-month basis), people become “members” (or “shareholders,” or “subscribers”) of the CSA.

Why CSA? What Makes CSAs so good?

Cheaper for the Customer!

CSAs are most commonly a vegetable, flower, and/or fruit oriented, providing customers with the seasonal bounty in weekly boxes. When buying a farm share, you the customer reap the benefits of overproduction.

Usually, the CSA enables farmers to finance their operation with the customers’ subscription dues, and in turn the customers share in the risk; the boom and bust of seasonal trends, pests, and plain old luck.

The TurkeyTail CSA is different in that there is no risk for the customer; every week’s share is a full share. In each weeks box we provide a share of lamb, pork, poultry, and/or fowl, to the full dollar amount of your share. The customer receives the best possible price for the food and the ease of mind in knowing  how your food was raised and fed.

Better For the Farmers!

Your dollars go directly to the farm and support the economic viability of a small, family farm. By paying for three months’ worth of meat, poultry, and garden goodies up front, you will help us maintain our high standards of feed, animal welfare, and land stewardship.

In addition, the CSA enables the farmer to spend less time marketing, and more time caring for animals and plants. This allows us at TurkeyTail to spend more time growing feed for our livestock (in turn reducing the amount fuel consumed in the production of your food). All this equates to bigger weekly boxes for you.
